XFCE menu ask for root password?

Hi,

I've just installed XFCE4 on Fedora Core 2. I'm setting up my menu (the right click menu), and I was wondering if there is any way I can make programs that require root privileges (like Synaptic) request a password and run as root like gnome seems to do automatically.

Anybody done this?

I've never used Fedora, but I'd guess gnome is using the program gnome-sudo to ask for passwords, in which case, you can do the same in XFCE e.g.
Code:
gnome-sudo -- synaptic --options --etc...
see man gnome-sudo for details.

Install gnomesu and then use the program name gnomesu program_you_want_to_run_as_root in the application field of your menu item config. When you select the item, gnomesu will start first, with the application name (synaptic) already filled in; you'll just need to enter the root password.

I'm sure there are other ways to do this, but I can't think of them right now, sorry.
