xfce broken menu
After transitioning from Ubuntu to Xubuntu (I wanted a fresh install anyway), I was happily installing everything, mostly through synaptic, when I found that the Xfce menu had stopped working at all. Highlighting the button causes it to border as though it were clickable, but clicking does nothing. It seems to be a result of trying to install rosegarden midi composition software. Right-clicking on the menu shows 'Xfce Menu', but the text is grey and unclickable. I don't understand how Rosegarden could possibly mess with the menu, maybe upon trying to install its icon? If anyone could at least tell me where I can try to edit out rosegarden from the menu list, please reply. I have no understanding of xfce yet.

Xfce menu button
bayonetblaha,
Encountered similar problem. Lost 'Xfce menu' funcionality. From another fourum 'fix', I opened the button with 'right click' and edited the properties entry. Use 'custom' setting and enter '/etc/xdg/xfce4/desktop/menu.xml' in the 'folder' entry. This falls back to the default settings and seems to work fine. The Ubuntu forum has instructions on how to copy the back-up setting to the 'working' directory for teh 'Xfce menu' button. I'm running Xubuntu on an old k-6 with low memory and it works great. best regards, larry aka marvinudy |
that did the trick, thanks!
yeah, I don't see anything Xubuntu can't do that (K)ubuntu can. Plus it feels like a proccesor upgrade :) |
