xdm and kdm


1.what can i inactive kdm and active xdm?
2.can i install both xorg and afree86 in one system(kubuntu)?

i install xorg in kubuntu and want install xfree86 but this error appears :
dpkg -i xserver-xfree86_4.3.0.dfsg.1-6ubuntu26_i386.deb
dpkg: considering removing xserver-xorg in favour of xserver-xfree86 ...
dpkg: no, cannot remove xserver-xorg (--auto-deconfigure will help):
xorg-driver-synaptics depends on xserver-xorg
xserver-xorg is to be removed.
dpkg: regarding xserver-xfree86_4.3.0.dfsg.1-6ubuntu26_i386.deb containing xserver-xfree86:
xserver-xorg conflicts with xserver-xfree86
xserver-xfree86 (version 4.3.0.dfsg.1-6ubuntu26) is to be installed.
dpkg: error processing xserver-xfree86_4.3.0.dfsg.1-6ubuntu26_i386.deb (--install):
conflicting packages - not installing xserver-xfree86
Errors were encountered while processing:
xserver-xfree86_4.3.0.dfsg.1-6ubuntu26_i386.deb
pleaze help me

The answer to the second question is yes but you would have to install one or the other from source then do some hacking of config files to get it to work, probably more trouble then it is worth in my opinon since Kubuntu comes with the newer Xorg. For the first question you can just apt-get install xdm and it should ask you which display manager you wish to use either kdm or xdm.
