xcdroast is sloooooow

I've emerged xcdroast .90alpha13 with cdrtools 2. i've activated nonroot user mode. but when i load it, it is soooo slow. The little hour glass cursor comes up and it just takes forever to go to the other screens. Once I get the cd burning, it flies. Anyone have any ideas why it loads so slow??

nope, no errors. I'll check out eroaster and see how that works. I've never had xcdroast go that slow before though. Wierd.

Okay so I tried to emerge eroaster and I get this error message:

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating dependencies
!!! all ebuilds that could satisfy "eroaster" have been masked.

!!! Error calculating dependancies. Please correct.
root@duckbutter hi5 # emerge eroaster
Calculating dependencies
!!! all ebuilds that could satisfy "eroaster" have been masked.

!!! Error calculating dependancies. Please correct.

I have not idea how to fix this.

nevermind.

I just had to use the specific line

emerge /usr/portage/eroaster/ eroaster2.1

We'll see how it works.

FYI, to emerge a masked build:
Code:
ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge acidrip

Now i get an error that says:
Calculating dependencies ...done!
>>> emerge (1 of 1) app-cdr/eroaster-2.1.0-r1 to /

!!! eroaster-2.1.0.tar.gz: message digests do not match!
!!! eroaster-2.1.0.tar.gz is corrupt or incomplete.
>>> our recorded digest: 1337d58a0c140ef62f2184699132ed40
>>> your file's digest: 217818c76031049ae9c7aece980d7e40
>>> Please delete /usr/portage/distfiles/eroaster-2.1.0.tar.gz and refetch.

I deleted the file and tried again...same thing. I read something in the gwn about oregonstate.edu having something funny going on. Do I need to change me rsync mirror? Also, I've looked for information about masked and unmasked. Can you explain why the accept_keywords command works and what it means? Thanks so much for the help. I appreciate it.

well I couldn't get eroaster, gcombust, or simplecdrx to find my cdrw. After trying different things with xcdroast, I found that I either need to have a cd in the "read" drive, or else have i file in the "hd" folder for it to read. As long as it can read something, the program works beautifully. Kind of strange but it works.

wha??!!? i wrote a damn long reply.....! it was great...! i was proud of it...! darn!! it's gone!

what i said originally is that you should pick a gentto mirror nearest to you, from the gentoo site, also try usign the original eroaster build, or the 2.0.12 version, assuming they are still listed. maybe there is an error in that r1 ebuild or something, or the source you are dl-ing from

Even though I would really like to try eroaster, I tried the 2.0.12 build and got this error:

checking for gnome-python... failed: get it from ftp://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/stable/latest/sources/

!!! ERROR: app-cdr/eroaster-2.0.12 failed.
!!! Function econf, Line 273, Exitcode 1
!!! econf failed

I have gnome-python installed. I don't get it...oh well. I figured how to make xcdroast work for me so it's no big deal. Thanks again for the help.
