Angry xawtv keeps udpating channel list

Good afternoon, everytime I start xawtv it seems to add a complete new list of available channels to the already existing list. Initially I went through the original list and edited and saved it in the config file. I get the same results using motv as well. Certainly there must be a way to turn off the constant updating. Any thoughts will be most appreciated and thanks in advance.
