X11 apps

Hi. I am running fluxbox on slackware 9. I love it!! My newbie question is the following:

How can I get my apps to start up in a specific portion of the screen?

I get them to start just fine by editing the .xinitrc file. But they all start in the upper left corner of the screen.

also...is there a way to load them up in the same position they were when I shutdown X? or by saving their position?

Any help would be much appreciated
