X without WindowManage

Hi everyone!
I want to run a pure X( just run X& ),then run a xterm to play mPlayer and other applictions.

Here is my question, without wm, how to control window ontop?
I know using -geometry to control its position, but sometime I want to set video-window ontop, and some time xterm ontop.

How can I get it?

Thank you!

Dude, isn't that why the window managers were built in the first hand? To manage windows?
