snap, I just found it on google too now...
well, the problem is (and this is the biggie)...
...there's no internet connection to the server. Yeah, I know, the server's useless without the internet, but SuSE 9.1 put some stupid firewall thing on it which I just don't need - I've already got a hardware firewall.
As well as this, I'm running off command at the moment, not that that's a huge problem, but
a) I don't have gcc (SuSE generally doesn't seem to have gcc) to compile the tar
b) I have no way of loading the file from the internet due to the lack of a connection.
Basically, all I really need to know is
how to switch the darn firewall off. This is what's stopping the connection, I think. w3m on the local machine simply tells me that the website (be it Google or anything) is unaccessible.... (presumably) due to the firewall.
I've already got webmin installed, but I cannot use it due to the fact that the firewall is blocking its use. I would quite happily use webmin till the cows come home, but can't.
I already tried to shut down the firewall without any success. These were the two commands I executed.
Code:
# rm /etc/susconfig/SuSEfirewall2
and
(though to be honest I don't actually know what that does.)
So, all in all, what I'm asking, is how to switch off the firewall that has restricted the access to the network/internet via command. (No GUI, remember)
Cheers.
