X says nvidia module does not exist but it does

When I change the driver for my GeForce 4 420 Go in xorg.conf and try to start X, it fails, and tells me rhat it couldn't load module "nvidia" because it does not exist. However, if i immediately do an lsmod i do have it running. Any help would be really appreciated.

Nevermind, I fixed it. Forgot to emerge nvidia-glx. Stupid mistake :).

since i'm also a newby, i'm curious where you did "emerge".
My best guess is in /etc/modules.conf..........but is that true????

I would realy appreciate a reply....

Hi, I see you are using redhat, whereas emerge is a gentoo tool. emerge is part of a system called portage which is the backbone of a gentoo installation. When people say that they emerge a package, they mean they install it with gentoo's portage system.

A loose analogy might be if someone said they had to apt-get a package. It's an install tool used at the command line.

Chris.
