x no longer runs..... (?)
i just upgraded my debian system last night ( just a routine 'apt-get update; apt-get upgrade' ). everything went peachy, and i can't remember if any of the x-server stuff was touched. but this morning when i turned on my computer, lo and behold, x can't boot. at first i thought the upgrade did something with my nvidia driver, so i quickly reinstalled it. but still, no luck. here's the error report from /var/log/XFree86.0.log:

which i don't get, because it said the same thing before and after i reinstalled the driver. ......ERG!
would this have anything to do with the 'vgahw' module that is the last one loaded? i'll try with the nvidia driver loaded and vgahw not loaded..... see if that works....
anyhoo.... any help much appreciated. using the vesa driver for now, which makes screen much to small.
