X forewarding via ssh tunneling with windows client

Greetings,

I'm trying to get ssh tunneling working correctly so that I can use X-deep/32 to run X apps from my x-server at home, from anywhere. Currently, I use putty on the windows computers, and ssh in just fine, and I check Enable X11 forewarding, but every time I try to run an X app, it says can't open display. I have X-Deep/32 running, so what exactly do I need to configure to make xterm or xclock or whatever, to realize that an X server is ready for connections?

-Thanks in advance.

I just had a go, and all i needed to do was run xdeep in "normal" mode, as opposed to an xdm connection, and ssh in and go... are you using a direct ssh connection to that machine? not hopping through another? i have X11 forwarding on in puTTY.. worked first time.

if you never have any luck, you might want a different client to try... XWinLogin apears to do a similar thing.

So just type the name of the X App? What if X is already running on the remote machine? Do I need to stop it first to free the ports ssh needs to bind to?

-Thanks
