OK, x starts loading, and I get the KDE screen and it's doing it's thing. It gets to scanning the periphrials, then x crashes. X says that my mouse does not exist, which is funny because I can move my mouse around the screen while KDE is loading .
. I tried running
dpkg-reconfigure xerver-xfree86
several times selecting different mouse settings, and none fix the problem. In fact, the only input setting that allows me to see my mouse while KDE is loading is the PS/2 setting. The mouse is a regular PS/2 2 button, w/ scroll wheel (and scroll button). I have been reading that this is a very common problem with debian installs, which conviniently enough is the distro I'm using.
I would be glad to post logs and config files if someone could please explain to me, a linux noob, how to save and port them into windows in order to post.
Also is there any way to remove this KDE in order to get into X? I don't even know what KDE is, do I need it?
