X configuration and utilities

I have several semi-related questions.

1) What is a script called when x starts? I am using primarily fluxbox with gdm and xfree 4.3 on Debian testing. I tried creating ~/.xsession and ~/.xinitrc, but they aren't being called.

2) In that script, is there a way to test what wm is being used, such as an environment variable? (I don't know much about scripting, but I program)

3) What program/utility would I use to send a right-click event to the root window? (I think that's what I want; I'm using xbindkeys and trying to get a shortcut to have the same effect as right-clicking the desktop.)

4) This is a stupid one, but what is the monitor program running in the screenshot of this theme?

5) What are the button shortcuts to cycle between workspaces and windows?

Thanks for helping with this. As you can tell it's nothing vital, but it's still nice.

What exactly are you attempting to do? Start a program after X starts?

Asked a million times, called gkrellm.

5) What are the button shortcuts to cycle between workspaces and windows?

I think its just F1 F2 F3 and so on in Flux.. not using Flux currently so can't remember off top of my head.

I am trying to start several programs. Here is my script currently:

xscreensaver -no-splash &
xbindkeys &

/usr/bin/Eterm &
gaim &

wmmon -l -s &
wmtop &
wmcalc &
wmbubble &
wmblob &
wmmatrix &
wmtimer &

Currently that is in one script and ~/.xinitrc and ~/.xsession both just call 'sh ~/.myxinit,' but it doesn't start until I call it myself.

To send an event to a different window, should I just learn the required parts of xlib and write it in C, or is there a handy utility to do it?

Thanks!

I use the ~/.fluxbox/apps file to tell it to start apps with the Window Manager starts. Here is mine:

[startup] {/usr/local/mozilla/mozilla}
[startup] {/usr/local/bin/xmms}
[startup] {/usr/local/bin/chbg}
[startup] {/usr/bin/endeavour2}
[startup] {/usr/bin/vmware}
[startup] {usr/local/bin/xchat}
[startup] {/usr/bin/licq}
[startup] {/usr/bin/evolution}
[startup] {/usr/bin/konqueror}
[startup] {/usr/bin/gkrellm}
[app] (aterm)
[Close] {yes}
[end]

Does that help you at all?
