Wysiwyg HTML Editors
I know there are some thread about this subject, but I could not the answer I want in those threads. I am just wondering if anyone ever know a free wysiwyg html editor for Linux other than Quanta and BlueFish. Well, I don't expect that I could find a software as comprehensive as Dreamweaver (even if there is a software like that for Linux, it must be commercial one/not freeware). I just need an html editor that allow me to do something like merging table cells visually like the way we could do in FrontPage or Dreamweaver. I don't need the visual property editor or other fancy features, just the basic wysiwyg. Anyone know a software like that? Thanks.

Mozilla and Netscape browsers come with a Composer, which can merge table cells visually. So you might want to check them out.

Thanks Jalal. Actually I forgot that Mozilla and Netscape come with their own html editor. I will give them a try.

If you have access to a Winders installation, how about trying Front Page Express under Wine? I haven't tried it myself but it's on my list of things to do.
I'm not saying that FPE is a good HTML program, but if all you need to do is dash off a quick html page or two it might suffice and you can always clean up and de-bloat the code by hand later. |
Peacock
http://peacock.sourceforge.net/ Still experimantal, but better than nothing. You can always use Mozilla Composer or OpenOffice.org too. |
Thanks for your suggestion guys. I think Netscape Composer is fine and so does OpenOffice.
