wsftpd and uploaded file permissions

I have an anonymous ftp server using vsftpd. I have an upload directory which has write permission. The problem I am having is that uploaded files are only accessible by the person uploading them and only for the same ftp session. After that point I have to manually allow access to all files and directories using chmod before anybody, including myself (non-root), can access these files. Is there some way I can change the default permissions of uploaded files?

For the record:
Fedora Core 3
vsftpd 2.0.1-5

Have a look in the config file, and I think that somewhere there is an option to change the mode of uploaded files (I think it is there to prevent public ftp servers becoming warez servers). I'm afraid I can't remember the name of the option, but it is probably in the man page.

Hope that helps
