wont boot after restore
I have an operational system I need to duplicate. I removed the drive and connected to a laptop running RHEL 4, performed a zero level dump and then restored the dump to a new drive. I installed grub and everything looks fine. When I try to boot with the new drive I get this error:
VFS: Mounted root (ext2filesystem) read only. Freeing unused kernel memory: 132K freed Attempt to access beyond end of device 03:01 rw=0 want=1219858868, limit 782176 Attempt to access beyond end of device 03:01 rw=0 want=1219858868, limit 782176 Kernel panic = No init found. Try passing init = option to kernel The original disk was built using a Linux 9 system but I'm required to use RHEL 4 now. Any ideas? Thx riverdragon |
I would guess that your problem is somewhere in the way you have configured grub. Check /boot/grub/menu.lst to see if grub is pointing to the correct initrd.
