wmv2ogg ??? wmv2mpg???

does anyone know of any command line app that can convert windows media video and windows media audio into any open source format, or even mpg format?? I've tried searching sourceforge but the results are in the 1000s!!!!! and I'll search the results for about 15 minutes or so, but usually find nothing useful. Even when I actually find something that converts windows media audio/video to another format, it's usually for Windows XP. Has anyone heard of any linux software that does this??? I know that it's rare, or possibly non-existent, since wma/wmv are proprietary formats.

thanks,
Giuseppe

can try mencoder , ffmpeg and the like ...

but why would you need to convert wmv into ogg or mpg ... ??

[EDIT ::] i think its better for you to convert them in windows as there are those "all-in-one"(very easy to install and use) windows version for mencoder , ffmpeg and some others ... after you convert them ... use them in linux and dont need to output into those "windows" formats anymore ...

.

Use the app linked in my sig. It will preserve the meta-tags for you.

Edit: sorry, but it will only work for audio files...
