VMware isn't make to run on Slackware Linux
however, to make it run, just create dirs rc0.d to rc1.d somewhere and tell vmware your init script is there. Then copy the "vmware" file to /etc/rc.d and rename it (rc.vmware)

To stop vmware service, type /etc/rc.d/rc.vmware stop
then start config

if it doesn't works, tell me, I will send you a nice HTML guide :p

vmware is commercial software and they offer a fantastic support service that I've used several times.

Why not e-mail them and ask them for help? After all, you've paid for the software, you have a right to get support.

MartBrooks: As I said before, vmware team DOES NOT give support for Slackware distrib. Slack is nearer BSD than other distrib, so use a different "rc.d" architecture.
So vmware support team will only tell you "we cannot help you" .

However it's not a big deal to make it works under slackware, you just have to create "fake" rc.d files (rc0.d, rc1.d, rc2.d ... rc6.d ) and move/rename the vmware init files.

And the Linux community offers excellent support too!
Follow the instructions at the attached link and you should be fine

good luck!
