With Gimp 2.0 can u apply two or more photos/images together to form one image?
 

With Adobe Photoshop 7.0 u have the ablilty to take two or more images of the same size and apply them together to create one image.
I was wondering how you would do that with Gimp 2.0 or is there another KDE or Gnome program that has this ability? My OS Suse 9.2 pro using KDE.

Or is there an easy way for me to install Photoshop 7.0 on this OS?!

Photoshop will install under Wine, but it's a lot of work to get it working properly. One problem is that the mouse sampling isn't very good because of the Windows-centric way it's written.

The easiest way to make a composite image (two images next to each other) is to use the composite command from the ImageMagick package. This is a command-line utility, but does the job and can easily be used for batches of images.

To make two images overlaying each other, just paste the second image as a new layer, then adjust the new layer's transparency in the “Layers” dialog.

you can do pretty much whatever photoshop can do (that's worth doing...) don't really know what you mean by combining images though... you can cut and edit them in layers till your hearts content if that's where you're heading

I applied three photos with an image, to create One image from all four.

Layers! Open the Layers dialog and play with the transparency slider and the overlay mode. You can also easily move and reposition each layer seperately with the move tool; just make sure you've got the right layer selected in the dialog.

The steps that you do in Photoshop will be same as Gimp. Like Photoshop, you have to use a lot of layers as well as the some filters in Gimp.

Actually when i apply images to one image it's one layer in photoshop!!! I figured out all the rest, but most people dont know how to do this in Photoshop.

If you want to combine layers in GIMP, you can select to view the layers you want to combine, then choose “merge visible”. This will achieve the same one-layer effect as you have in PhotoShop.

I suggest you consider keeping seperate layers until it gets too complex to manage, as this gives more scope for changing things later on.

One thing I do in this situation is keep two copies at times of the image, one saved with all the layers for possible editing later on down the road and then the flattened image, usually jpg or png.. etc. :)
