Winex3 Problems

ok, so we fianlly installed the nvidia graphics dreiver and it works great. then we downloaded the rpm files from www.transgaming.com (yes I paid...:-( ) but now when I try and run it, it says "x11drv: Can't open display: :0.0" anyone know how to fix it?

ok can you try to and elaborate a little bit more....
are you saying winex is installed succesfully? or do you get this at some point of installation?
if it is installed successfully, then you must be getting this trying to run/install something? if so what are you trying to run/install?

sorry, I installed winex 3.1 with no problems (that i know of...no errors were given to me). I get the error "x11drv: Can't open dispaly: :0.0" when I try and run a setup.exe file from a cd. (typing "winex3 /mnt/cdrom/setup.exe", like the winex readme says to) just not sure why it won't run now.

oh ok, and what are you trying to install? are you sure its supported?
also i am going to quote the below that i've seen in another thread

Just run from a simply user, not from root :(

I was at root (X server runing as root) and at console with login command i logon like a simple user and run wine from that user under root X server.

If you login fully as user it's works fine.

is that the issue?

OK, i just realized i was trying to usd a not supported game, but when i tried a supported one, it still gave me the error... just won't run winex
tried running as just a user and as root, made no difference...

go into your wine config file and post the [x11drv] section...it shouldn't be that big...maybe in the general area of 15-30 lines..

Actually DrOzz, i don't think i have a wine config file. i just downloaded the rpm and installed it (i have someone here that says there isn't a config file if I installed it that way...) if i would have it you know where it might be located? sorry for the trouble.

i will quote straight from transgamings page ::
Quote:

Where do the WineX files go?

WineX packages install themselves into /usr/lib/transgaming, and include a startup script called 'winex' in /usr/bin.
When a user runs a Windows game or application program via the winex script, a template directory called '.transgaming' is copied to their home directory. This template directory contains the configuration files for WineX as well as a 'fake' Windows "C:" drive.
The fake "C:" drive is also linked from the user's home directory as 'TransGaming_Drive'. Installed programs can be accessed through that link.
