WineX is a commercial fork of Wine. Basically transgaming.com has taken the Wine source and worked to optimize it for games and especially directX, something that Wine has historically had trouble with.
I've been using version 2.2 of the rpm of WineX and its pretty good. Its not perfect, but its getting better with each version.
Transgaming has promised that once they get to a certain point, they will fold their improvements in the original Wine if they can...not sure what the status on that is, I haven't kept up.
