Winecfg Error: wine: Unhandled page fault on read access...

I installed Wine on my Gentoo system via Portage. I run winecfg from a terminal in KDE X windows and instantly receive error messages...
Code:

wine: Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x003c0023 at address 0x7efa9a30 (thread 0009), starting debugger...
wine: Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x003c001b at address 0x7efa9a30 (thread 000b), starting debugger...
wine: Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x003c0013 at address 0x7efa9a30 (thread 000d), starting debugger...

When I build Wine without X support, I don't get the errors, but it is also useless without X. I have tried looking around on the Wine website and Googling the error but all the situations are application specific and not just dealing with first time Wine configurations.

Any ideas on why it is error'ng on the first run of the configuration?

No idea why this is happening. What I can say is that changing versions of wine does not help. I am having this same problem. It might be that I update kde frequently; that might have broken something that wine needs.

Do users of gnome have this same issue?

This is what I know so far:
AntiVir does not conflict
Versions of Wine do not help
Running as root does not help

Sorry that I don't have a solution, but I thought I would add further issues to this.

This is strange, but it got wine working in Suse 10.1

I entered runlevel 3 and typed winecfg as user not root. I had gotten a few x server errors, but it installed the .wine direcotoy. Upon entering runlevel 5, winecfg worked fine. I hope this helps.

I was able to finally get Wine running after disabling some features in the compile process. Its been awhile; I forgot what finally fixed it.
