Wine wont install on gentoo?!

Im a total linux n00b so give me a break

Im using gentoo and I tried running 'emerge wine'. Everything was going fine until an error occured and the session terminated.

The error was:

Configure finished. Do 'make depend && make' to compile Wine.

make: Warning: File `Makefile.in' has modification time 2.5e+07 s in the future
Makefile is older than Makefile.in configure, please rerun ./configure
make: *** [Makefile] Error 1

!!! ERROR: app-emulation/wine-20050111 failed.
!!! Function src_compile, Line 88, Exitcode 2
!!! depend
!!! If you need support, post the topmost build error, NOT this status message.

So what do I do? How do I rectify the problem?

i'd guess you're running this over a lan? your server will possibly have a different time on it... make sure all times everywhere are correct and consistent

It downloads off http://packages.gentoo.org/ then unpacks source and compiles.

So do I simply set the clock. I live in the uk. Do i set it to US time. I said i was a n00b

hm.. well thinking about it, 2.5e7 is.... 25000000 seconds... 289 days. that's not really likely to be a wrong clock, timezones are the least of your problems!... what is the time stamp of the makefile.in that it's complaining about? (run a stat on the file) and also what is your system time?

and are you not just emerging it?? don't download it. anything going through there will be updated with an "emerge sync" anyway.

I ran emerge sync. And then ran emerge wine. And eventually get this error. When doing 'emerge eine' it automaticially downloads the source.

I've just changed my system clock to 11:19 (the time here at the time of writing).

WAIT. lo. I'm trying it for the second time now and its actually working. Maybe it was the clock..?
