Wine,WineX and RH9
Hi,
I've been having significant problems getting WineX working in RH9, I'm mainly just trying to get Half Life working. I checked out current from CVS and compiled (yes, it has OpenGL support compiled in). Seeing that there was a bug in the glib packages for RH9, I updated to the newest versions with RedHat claim fix the bugs. I have checked and they appear to be exactly what RedHat says should fix the problem. RPM reports the following glib packages installed: glib-1.2.10-10 glib2-2.2.1-1 glibc-2.3.2-27.9 glibc-devel-2.3.2-27.9 glibc-kernheaders-2.4-8.10 glibc-common-2.3.2-27.9 I get the usual "socket not connected" etc., I just type wineserver -p and that gets it passed it. However, whenever I try to run anything, it fails. I get the same message when I compile Wine-20030503, and try to run Half Life: <quote> fixme:cdrom:CDROM_GetIdeInterface CD-ROM device with major ID 11 not supported XIO: fatal IO error 0 (Success) on X server ":0.0" after 230 requests (228 known processed) with 0 events remaining. </quote> If I run winex with the "-use-pthreads yes" flag, it does get to the menu in HL, but as soon as I click "New game" or another action that starts the game, it crashes, sometimes taking the whole system down with it, other times just X. If I install the Wine-20030503 RPMs, it works, however when I get in the game, all the walls have no texture, they're just a kind of grey. The humans are all rendered fine, weapons all perfect etc. Anyone have any suggestions on how I might get WineX (or just plain Wine) working in RH9? Thanks in advance. |
wine and RedHat 9
I have been trying to compile wine for RedHat 9 and it works, but I don't think openGL is getting compiled in even by forcing it. You said that you had an earlier version that worked for RedHat 9 and had openGL? Do you still know the link, I would like to run Rhinoceros + some games and need openGL to perform those tasks.
Thanks, Walter |
