Version?

The best version is the newest version. To install it, download it and then read the README after it is unpacked.

Example:

File download - wine-x-.tar.gz where x is the version

now unpack it:

tar xvfz wine-x.tar.gz

now go into the unpacked folder:

cd wine-x

now read README:

joe (or gedit, kate, nedit, pico, emacs, etc...) README

now build/install it:

./tools/wineinstall

Please note that this takes about 45 minutes to an hour (at least it did for me) so don't do it unless you have time. Good luck!
