Unhappy Wine wants a socket

I've downloaded the latest, which is supposed to have glibc2.3 support. I installed the tar ball, but when I go to execute, it wants a directory /tmp/.wine-user. I give it a directory, and then it wants a socket. Whats a socket? How do I appease wine?

Did you check your Wine config file (usually in ~/.wine/config)? Sometimes there is config info there that isn't accurate. For example a lot of times I'll get floppy or CD-Rom errors because the config file info is wrong. I don't know why it would be trying to use a socket though, that's never happened for me...

New Developements

I tried to reinstall wine and got these errors after it made a new .wine/config file:

////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Compiling regedit...
make: Nothing to be done for `all'.

Preparing to install default Wine registry entries...
Installing default Wine registry entries...

wine: lstat /tmp/.wine-thomas/server-303-1251e7/socket : No such file or directory
Registry install failed.
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Is this a socket for writing to the disk or something???

You need to run configure like so:

./configure --with-nptl

This will become auto detected at runtime in the next few weeks hopefully, I answer this socket question every single day at the moment

(wipes brow!)
