Wine vs. COM ports

Hi!

I'm new to Linux and your help would be highly appriciated.

I have a client that wants me to install a meassuring program made for WinXP on a OpenSUSE 11.2 machine.
I used wine to install and the program works fine but cant find COM ports.

I have the option to go with serial or USB-to-serial, which one is best?

I tried: ln -s /dev/USB0 ~/.wine/dosdevices/com1, with no luck.

They work the same way...just gives you a serial port. Doesn't matter.

Wrong device. USB to serial would be /dev/ttyUSB0 (1,2,etc.).
