wine trouble

installing half life, got this error

"setup is unable to find a hard disk loaction to store temporary files.

Make at least 3624kb free disk space available and then try running setup again.

error 101."

when i setup wine it was supposed to setup a fake c drive for stuff like dlls, is that the problem? or is it something else?

i also get this thing when running wine

Could not stat /mnt/fd0 (No such file or directory), ignoring drive A:
Could not stat /cdrom (No such file or directory), ignoring drive D:

however, it does recognize my cdrom, as the disk spins up...so i dunno what that is all about

ideas?

First thing, about the cdrom not being recognized...be sure it is mounted. If it is not (do an 'ls /mnt/cdrom' - if you don't see anything come up, it isn't mounted), do a 'mount /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom'.

Second issue, about half life not finding a temp drive...I am having the same problem and apparently the most recent versions of wine have broken the half life installer. Right now I am compiling winex (from CVS) and hoping that is going to work. The other option is to download a slightly older version of wine (I don't know exactly how old...read up at linux half life - lhl.linuxgames.org I think it is. The forums have a bunch of people with the same problem.
