Wine or WineX?

Which one is best to use if I want to play games and install Windows Applications (namely dreamweaver MX and maybe others).. From what I can read, WineX is basically for games and wine is for apps..

Can they both be installed at once?

Thanks.

You're right about wine being basically for programs, and winex is just beefed up with direct x support. Wine is free but Winex is subscription based, but you can get the code from CVS and build it.

Yes, WineX is WINE + some DirectX stuff. So it will run regular programs as well (if not better) than WINE standard.

But don't get the CVS version of WineX, it doenst include the DirectX API and other important stuff. Its better to pay the $5.

the CVS version of WineX doesn't include DirectX APIs? Then what is the difference between Wine and WineX CVS? my understanding was that WineX included DirectX APIs, just not texture compression support and support for CD copy protection:

The live CVS Tree for TransGaming's WineX (minus copy protection related code and texture compression, for now) is available through TransGaming's community website TransGaming.org.
