Wine help
what version of wine do i need for slackware 9.1 to work maybe someone can help who has slackware 9.1 and is running wine
|
I grabbed the most recent version of wine source at the time (about a week ago) and it built fine for me in slack 9.1
|
ok but how do i "build" wine like isnt there an install program or something im new to linux
|
if you go to the SuSE 9.1 ftp site there is a version there. also, winehq.org will have the most up to date version avail.
if you installed SuSE already, it may have installed wine for you. have you checked... try the whereis command whereis wine |
i dont have SuSe i have slackware and i cant seem to find wine any where so all i need is a version of wine that someone knows works for slackware 9.1
|
Sorry all I saw was 9.1....
try the whereis command whereis wine |
It could be under something like
~/.wine/fake_windows cd to that dir and the rest should be easy to find |
ok well i know i have a copy of wine and apparently it should work on slackware now how do i install wine do i just coy the files or is there an installer program for it?

wine is not working!
Hello All,
I'm new to linux (RH9) so bear with me but I'm having a problem running wine with a linux training cd I purchased from spidertools.com. I have a dual boot system (winxp and rh9 with grub running nice). I installed the latest wine release (wine-20040914-1rh9winehq.i366.rpm) from terminal. No obvious errors. I change to my CD-ROM directory to access the windows executable /mnt/cdrom1 and type "wine basic.exe". I now get the following error: wine: '/root/.wine' created successfully. wine: Unhandled exception (thread 0009), starting debugger... WineDbg starting on pid 0x8 Unhandled exception: divide by zero in 32-bit code (0x403961f5). In 32 bit mode. 0x403961f5: idivl 0xffffffc4(%ebp),%eax Wine-dbg> I'm stuck in debug mode. I looked in the spidertools website (http://spidertools.com/wine_setup.php) and I don't see the /usr/share/wine-c folder for the windows directory structure. Could this be the problem? Any HELP would be very much appreciated. BTW.......I'm an MCP converting to Linux. Thanks, dpbRH |
Superme: no, Slackware doesn't have installers. Slackware is a distro for whom operating systems is a hobby, really. If you want installers and things being easy to use don't use Slackware, use Fedora or something.
