Those are all fine and dandy, but as far as im concerned my skill level in linux isnt great enough to even understand half of that...like perhaps i just installed it incorrectly or something, but oncei download the wine "packages" i double click them. It goes through this process of installing packages, but as far as im concerned i cant tell what to do from there. Help now?

well if you installed it then you are going to have to make a fake windows drive, you can look into the app called winetools to do that for you, and then you can type ::
wine appname.exe and see if your app will run... |
or you can just type:
wine notepad if the windos notepad opens, you're all set. m |
oh yeah by the way i had the same problem before cause i don't really know anythink about linux... but after i bought SuSe linux professional edition, everything is cool now cause it has the wine built in already...i think you could get it on ebay for 10 bucks...to me it's worth it for newbie like us...hopefully it helps...
