Don't use a real Windows system as your C: drive. Instead install WineHQ from the source, rename or delete ~/.wine and then try again. That way you'll get a clean setup.

the 3.3.1 dload of winex doesnt work! In the zip is a file source.sh you run it and it is meant to retreive the code but the command is missunderstood in my shell the code is

Dan@linux:~/Desktop/wine/winex3.3.1> ./source.sh
Copyright 2004 Ivan Leo Murray-Smith
This script is licensed under the terms of the GPL, you should have
received a copy of the GPL with this file. You can also read the GPL
from http://www.fsf.org/licenses/gpl.txt

Please note that WineX is not Free Software, but is licensed under the
terms of AFPL, the LGPL and the X11 license. The license agreement for
WineX 3.3.1 is available at http://www003.portalis.it/115/license.html
A copy of the license is shipped with this script.

./source.sh: line 15: cvs: command not found
Download of the WineX 3.3.1 source code complete, have fun.
Dan@linux:~/Desktop/wine/winex3.3.1>

as you can see ./source.sh: line 15: cvs: command not found is whats failing - and this is the download line

what version of wine did you try?

try the version i posted and see if that makes a difference
wine-20040213-41.i586.rpm

if that doesn't work try the latest release of wine @ winehq.com
