I had installed wine from source and everything goes fine during installlation until after install. I was trying to run notepad.exe on my Window XP in FAT32 format. But the result was that juwst about everything i was trying to run. The output always was
/cdrom is not a directory, ignoring drive D:#which under my concern isn't that important.
wine: Unhandled exception (thread 0009), starting debugger...
err:seh:EXEC_DefaultHandling Unhandled exceptino code c0000005 flags 0 addr 0x40178805
In XP wine(the version of which comes with your distro) has some problems, and some programs do not run.I suggest that you try windows 98.Read the manpage and the documentation too.
(located at /usr/share/doc/wine-blah/
But is there a patch for the latest wine which i am using?
But in my case. It's never some but all, I can't run none of window's programs using wine in linux. Even, those little games that doesn't even need registry which you just extract the file and double click and the game came up kind!
Is there anyway i could get it work?
Well you can create a virtual registry or use the same registry as in your current windows installation with wine.As I told you most of the programs in XP do not work in wine, you should try 98.
For more information you can try the wine homepage- http://winehq.com/
Read the faqs here http://winehq.com/site/docs/wine-faq/index
from which I quote
Quote:
DON'T configure Wine to use an NT-based Windows install (NT, Win2K, WinXP, Win2K3).
