Wine compile error: "C compiler cannot create executables"
Hi Folks,
I'm trying to compile the last version of wine (0.9.53) on Mint Daryna. When doing ./configure I get:
Code:
checking build system type... i686-pc-linux-gnulibc1
checking host system type... i686-pc-linux-gnulibc1
checking whether make sets $(MAKE)... yes
checking for gcc... gcc
checking for C compiler default output file name...
configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables
See `config.log' for more details.
This is config.log:
Code:
This file contains any messages produced by compilers while
running configure, to aid debugging if configure makes a mistake.
It was created by Wine configure 0.9.53, which was
generated by GNU Autoconf 2.61. Invocation command line was
$ ./configure

The same package compiled & installed w/o problems on Sabayon. Any thoughts?
TIA

This message is indicating that your build environment isn't setup properly, not a problem with Wine specifically. You seem to be missing either a compiler component or perhaps the shared libraries.

Thanks for the advice, I did a reinstall on a bunch of packages, such as gcc, g++, etc and got the compile to go through. I appreciate it!.

Want 'wine' : sudo apt-get install wine
GCC not working : sudo apt-get install g++
( g++ takes care that the files required by gcc gets installed.)
And : Welcome to LQ.
