wine and trillian pro 2.0

i just installed trillian pro 2.0 but i am having difficulties connecting to msn. aim and icq connect with no prob. i get the following message:

fixme:winsock:NtStatusToWSAError Status code c0000024 converted to DOS error code 6

i'm running wine 20030813 and i have wine tools. i installed dcom98 also. i'm assuming that i am needing a dll added that is authintic windows file. possibly winsock and winsock32.

this is my config file:

No, you actually dont need any files to run trillian, it usually runs right off. I'd assume its broken because I see you have some kazaa overrides, so you must have replaced a few files with win dll's? So remove them and forget about kazaa for a while if you want trillian.

i didn't put the kazaa references in there. maybe wine tools did. a friend of mine found a but report that had the same prob. apparently for some reason wine is having troubles with winsock 2.0 and i guess trillian is using this.

A little odd that anything would put kazaa refrences in for you...
Did you compile wine yourself? Or use an RPM. I use an RPM because suse came with wine pre-installed, and its easier to keep up to date with rpm -Uvh

And as far as Winsock goes, wine is supposed to convince the program is running on a lan network, which should mean its not using winsock at all. As lan's use their own drivers...

Still works for me. So either way, its supported with no dll's added, and there must be something you've changed or gotten messed in the install.

you could always try kopete which is in a sense an equivalent to trillian...
here is a quote from kopetes homepage..
Quote:
Kopete is a big project which already supports messaging protocols like Jabber, ICQ, AIM, MSN, Yahoo, IRC, Windows LANs, GaduGadu, IRC and SMS. ....

i'm not sure what may have changed it. i downloaded the newest version from wine hq and compiled it. install was smooth.

the main reason i was trying to use trillina because i wanted to not only have multiple im capability but also wanted to be able to transfer files. i've been using gaim and am happy with it except for the lack of file transfer.
