I just installed the newest Wine and then i downloaded wine - sidenet, also the newest verion out. the installation for sidenet, IEXPLORER, and Windows Media player all seemed to install fine.
but when i go to use anything with WINE, i get a spesific error message:

And when the program starts to run, there is no text.
IEXPLORER does not run at all, but i like Mozilla, so i didnt care, so i went ahead and tested WINE by downloading Yahoo! Messenger 6... (.exe) and i get the "error message #1" and the program runs, but no text... I went ahead by guessing what i should press during the installation, then i tried to run the installed app (Ypager.exe), i get "error message #2" then nothing happens.

After the installation, i opened ~/.wine/sidenet/wcs.log ... and theyre are alot of errors, mostly containing the above messages.
I dont know if it will be useful at all but, i run Mandrake 10.0, and i use KDE.
I would Greatly Appriciate any support.

Hi, I don't know much about wine, but maybe this could help:
-Become root,
as root, at the prompt, type:
# cd /dev
# MAKEDEV audio

Now, do:
#ls /dev/mixer1
If it gives an error somewhere it failed, but if it just lists
/dev/mixer1
you might have come any further!

Sidenet is a bowl of snot. It crashed on me twice when trying to get as far as installing it. The first time I tried to install it, it got to installing IE6, said it was simulating rebooting for about half an hour and then opened up about 50 or so tiny windows that said "Start Menu Shortcuts". I could not even close the windows. So I had to shut down the whole terminal. I tried it again and this time it only got as far as installing IE6 and then it started opening those little windows again ... it eventually just halted.

The program is a piece of crap. Now I have to sit here and repair Wine all over again. Stay away from Sidenet.
