Question Wine and Fedora Core 3

Hello,

I am using Fedora Core 3 distro. Recently I installed Wine from rpm and used this command.

rpm -i <RPM NAME>

all goes fine and wine installed properly. However when I executed wine after configurations, I got an error which is

chdir to /tmp/.wine-lnxuser/server-301-aa4 : No such file or directory

After that I checked that /tmp/.wine-lnxuser/ was there and server-301-aa4 was missing. I thought that it was due to any problem with installation and tried to reinstall package. Now I tried to remove first package and got this error when I used
Code:
rpm -e wine
error reading information on service wine: No such file or directory
error: %preun(wine-20030618-1rh8winehq.i686) scriptlet failed, exit status 1

I checked that wine file is missing from /etc/rc.d/init.d/ directory and that may be a cause because as far as i know rpm was unable to get the Service information. How can I remove the older version (which got corrupted) and install again ?

Because without removing Older version it says
Code:
package wine-20030618-1rh8winehq is already installed
Thanks,
Kirtimaan.

It's likely that the version you're running is out of date. Make sure your system is *completely* clean of Wine then try installing the latest version.

Question Thats real problem

Hello mhearn,

Yes, I know I have an older version tried and now I wand to remove that one completely and install the latest release of wine again.

As I wrote whenever I try to remove older version I get following error :

Code:

rpm -e wine command used and error got

error reading information on service wine: No such file or directory
error: %preun(wine-20030618-1rh8winehq.i686) scriptlet failed, exit status 1

So can you suggest me any way to clean up wine from my system as "rpm" command seems to unable to remove olderversion. And whenever I try to install new build it says :

Code:
 package wine-20030618-1rh8winehq is already installed

What is Solution ?

Thanks,
Kirtimaan.
