wine?


If I want to run a windows program must I have windows installed? I have wine installed and the whole xmessage thing fixed.

you don't officially need windows installed, but the software is still very muhc in devleopment so afaik some programs won't work without the original windows libraries.

alright, now how do I install a windows application onto linux? I'm trying to install winzip then unzip kazaalite.

well if wine is going to work (I assumed LONG ago that it generally doesn't and gave up) then you should be able to run the installer itself with wine.

I'm running Kazaa Lite under wine and that it's actually a miracle, it works "most of the time".... after a while, sometimes it starts to give strange "GDI heap" errors......... the GUI looks rare... but to me is enough. Wine is not that rock-solid environment to run Win software... that is VMWare (a commercial product) or Bochs.
