Wine 20030618 in Red Hat 9.0

I have installed this distribution of Wine from its rpm and installation was error free. I ran winesetuptk apparently successfully. But when I try to run wine from the user login I get the error

chdir to /tmp/.wine-roger/server-303-15e2fa: No such file or directory

and if I try to run it as root I get the error
relocation error: wine_init

Can anyone tell me what's wrong?

I had the same problem. Here is the fix:
Type 'export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.2.5' in your consol. put this in your shell start up file so you don't have to run it everytime you open a new consol.

Hi, I have exactly the same problem as the guy who made the original problem, I am at work at the moment but i ssh'd into my computer at home and tried this.

However i still get the same error! Is there any config files that need to change.

I find it stange as it worked seemlessly under MDK.

I switched to RH9 as it suites my needs better.

Thanks in Advance.

Here is a thread on winehq's forum regarding Redhat 9.0 that you might find useful. Just keep following it.

http://www.winehq.org/hypermail/wine...3/05/0191.html

There was also mention of this newsgroup -> comp.emulators.ms-windows.wine

I guess this problem has been reported numerous times and the solution is claimed to be there.

Wine and Red Hat 9.0

Thanks to linux_pioneer. That DID get things operating.

But ... of course ... not totally smoothly.

While applications generally work, the system responds with

err: module: get_registry_value invalid load order module-type L "so", ignored.

Doesn't stop functioning, but still not perfect

Then I get
fixme:win32: Setcriticalsectionspincount critsection=0x653cf7a0: Spincount=1000 not supported.

I'm really new to this - can someone point me to something explanatory?

I had the same problem as well. I went ahead and took wine completely off my system, then used the CVS utility to d/l and install wine (use the user logon only as root installs are not alowed). Once I did this the problem with .wine-user and the registry went away. I then set permissions on the CD and floppy and verified the wine.conf file. ./winecheck gave me a rating of 99.5% and I was up and running with minor problems.

I hope this helps.
