Sixpax, you're not being any better than he was being. Maybe he had an epiphany.
I think everyone deserves a second chance! To answer the question I have absolutely 0 experiance with ASPLinux, but it looks like it is a modified version of Red Hat targeted at extreme newbies.

Sorry Jeremy... I have about as much tolerance for trolls as you have experience with ASPLinux.

WHO ARE YOU?

Come on.... You like your windows? That's great. That's your right. If you like to see your operating system crash or you like virus or you like to be hacked FINE. Stay with it.

I'm using windows, that's true. I like game too much.I'm just a newbie to linux anyway and I still having problem. And I dunno what ASP linux is.
But I will NEVER in my life run any server on a stupid windoze boxe. I know too much security holes about windoze to even think about running a server on a windoze box without any danger.
So look. You have 2 kind of people and 2 kind of OS. People like mr./mrs everyone that like easy things. It's not important if their system crash every 30 min or if any people using their brain can enter in their system. It is EASY. That's all. And it's why 90% of workstation in the world run windoze. And I agree that some people need easy OS.

And you have the second kind of people. People who like hard but STRONG things. If the system crash, it is NOT good. It is not suppose to happen and they will not tolerate any crash you see?
Same about the security.
And that's why 70% of internet server are running on LINUX or on something close to it. Server are not suppose to crash. NEVER. Server are not suppose to reboot. NEVER. No matter if they need to make an ip change or to install a drivers.

Linux is NOT user friendly. Linux is HARD. Linux will ask you to know how computer work. It is NOT point and click.

Choose what you want.
Hard and Strong
or
Easy and Weak

The choice is your.

And btw, you wonder why you have to mount Cd-rom on linux before using it? I will tell you.

I have 2 hard drive here.
One has linux on it. The primary of course. The second has windoze and a lot of useless things. Like my school works.
This hd is on a rack. Well it is something to make a IDE hd easy to remove. I dont have to open my box, I just pull the rack to remove my hd. Useful.

Before leaving to school, I umount my hd and I REMOVE IT. Period. No reboot. My computer still on. (I know I know it can be dangerous on a fat32 partition ). When I come back. I plug the hard drive and I mount it. That's all. No reboot.
Try to do it with windoze. You will scrap your hard drive.
Linux is a server technology.
And you can get a prog to automount your cd-rom.

...

oh and... I really dunnohow to help you with asp/red hat cuz I never try these distrib. But you, try other distribution. Mandrake is very easy too. I'm running slackware it's not easy but if you have time to loose you can make a try?

1) if it's not supported fully by a new version of redhat, it'll have the SAME support with any other new distro.
2) he's been concentrating on it for years. still nowhere.

look bud, if you think windows is so good, go and use it, you won't be missed. You presumably have no *need* to use linux, so i suggest you leave it if you are so adamant that it's rubbish (or crazy... whatever you mean by that)

I don't know asp, but give Mandrake a try. It's very easy to install and very newbie friendly.

You bet? Bill doesn't really care about user, he only wants some money. And I think it's stupid to buy a $400 buggy OS. I have to agree, the new Win Xp is far safer than previous version but I know security hole in this system too. They teach me Win2k at university. Trust me, if you don't know how to configure it, it is NOT safe. And if you really believe in your luck, install IIS on your computer without doing any critical upgrade. Within 24h your computer will be a piece of crap. I have 10 attacks a day on my apache server of stupid virus (like Code Red and Nimda) trying to exploit easy hole that only exist on IIS. Are you seriously saying that Microsoft make good products? Ninety-nine percent of their products are bad and buggy. And they are all TOO expensive.
