windows hosts file, not working anymore with squid :(
today, on my router box, (linux) i have installed squid 2.2 stable.
mhh, freesco linux box to be ecactly.
the cache works like a rocket ,but it also now allows the sites i have blocked in my windows hostsfile (this file is currently 4.5MB) ,how to i get squid so that it still works with the hosts file..
moving it to the router is no solution, because some persons want to browse some blocked sites (ehmmm,ok, you know witch one)
must be resolving them to a fake ip e.g.
127.0.0.1 www.google.com
Your machine doesnt do any DNS requests when using proxy servers so the host file is totally irrelevant here. You need to configre the proxy server to block these sites.

Add them to your linux (proxy) host file?
/etc/hosts
that is just the problem..
for me the perfect solution..
but for the others who use internet here not.
they want to access sometime these blocked sites..
mhh, if it is no other posibility ,than the hosts goes back to linux
thnxs!
