Ok,
I've had linux for about 3 weeks now and i'm understanding it!
But... (as always) i want to put windows back on because im having problems with a few files.
Now im never giving up! As i got another computer which im going to put linux on.. but when i try to boot the widnwos instalation from the cd it says: CDERROR or BOOTERROR Code: 5
Now i have no idea what this means and when i try and run it in linux it says the extension: .exe cannot be opened with any programs... HELP! ME!!!!! please.... i read every where
Yout cant install windows while being in linux, it dosent run windows executables because it is a totally different platform, try enabling cdrom boot in your bios and putting the cd in at computer boot time
Im not giving up! Just this PC i want windows on... calm down! I am still a linux fan, but this is the familly PC and they dont know how to use linux!!!!!
like simbolo says, get to your bios by rebooting and hitting 'delete' or whatever the magic key(s) are, at the magic time, to get into bios happens to be. When you get in there, change the boot order to show cdrom as "first boot device".
I forgot that older versions of windows cds aren't bootable. I'm pretty sure XP discs will boot. For 95, I guess get a bootable floppy from bootdisk.com would work as long as you can access the cdrom from it.
Just be glad you arent stuck with an upgrade disk and no older version disk.
Might just be easier to show the fam how to use Linux!
"Windows has detected that a gnat has farted in the near vicinity. Please reboot for changes to take effect."
