windowmaker alpha blending


hello

i read in the description of windowmaker, that the pixmaps have an extra alpha chennel. i also saw screenshots showing me transpernt menus.

but at my site, this doesnt work.

is there anything i shoud have been aware of before compiling and installing? do i need hermes to have alpha-blending? what is what i have forgotten?
