Opps my linux partitions are inside the EXT DOS partition.

Why does it say there are Logical Dos drives in the extended EXT Dos partition? all the extended partitions are linux partitions.

When I say yes to display logical drive information it says no logical drives defined.

Here's both screen shots

Partition table information

logical drive information

The second PRI DOS partition I can use just fine in windows it's defined as drive E:\

so it IS in there!! i just did a double take for nothing, we got some kind of communication thing all wacked out. it's kool

you're right, windows shouldn't be using /dev/hda2 as drive e: at all. you shouldn't even have a drive e:, unless a cdrom (of course).

so, time-wise, did you make that 11GB PRI DOS before or after the linux parts? and what's the little 55 MB linux part for?

i can send you partinfo so you can run the test, if i know where to send it.

Smile

and BTW, those vbforum attachmentsaren't available, just hit the select button in your DOS prompt's toolbar --it looks like the select tool in most graphics progz-- and drag the whole miniscreen, W9x will copy the contents as text--without a screenshot.

You where right it was the second PR DOS partition!
I just deleted it and everthing works just fine.
I still can't beleive that you can only have one PRI DOS parition.
It makes no sense at all.
The 55mb linux partition is the boot partition for linux.

I just want to say Thank You

It still doesn't make sense why would it fail on the linux partitions when it was the second windows partition that was causing the
problem

ok, kool. i hope there wasn't anything on it...

somehow your last allocatted space was not the last partition made, that's why your 11GB part was /dev/hda2 instead of 3 or 4. linux fdisk says 'f' will fix partition order, which might have moved it's table entry to the end where it belonged, but now you might want to re-allocate it as a logical drive inside the extended part-- after the linux drives. and use DOS fdisk, too that way windoze won't get confused (only 1 pri dos) and it can remain visible.

and you -can- have multiple pri dos's-- if you run win2k or xp, or if you hide one all but one for 95/98/me (my first post in this thread)
