Will presentations made in Impress open in Powerpoint?

A friend of mine needs to make a presentation for school, but the teacher is using powerpoint. Nobody I know has powerpoint,, so I figured that he could use Open Office.org to make it. I want to know if the presentation will be openable in powerpoint, because I know a lot of stuff is interoperable with OpenOffice.org.

Thanks for any help.

You can do it, but it isn't the default behavior on my installation of OOo 1.1. When you go to save the file, just use the Save As... option in the File menu. In the Save As dialog box, check out the drop-down list for File Type. You will see that you can save the presentation in PPT format instead of the Open Office.org format.

Not all effects translate between OOo and PowerPoint, but close enough to get you going.

Thanks for helping me out. The presentation shouldn't be too fancy, so it should be okay.

Thanks a lot.
