If my keyboard possessed such a key, I would
remove it ... just as I, so many years ago, removed the "Reset" button from the keyboard of my Apple ][.
"If you ever find yourself in a bar, in which you wished that you had a gun in your pocket, then, dude(tte)...
you are in the wrong bar!"
Trust me on this:
virtual machines are a wonderful thing. (So are "multi-terabyte(!) external disk drives that, yes, you can buy at an office-supply store for pennies.")
You can, today, leave "your existing operating-system
entirely alone," and install "any operating system(s) you please, including Linux," in virtual machines. Thanks to the
hardware support that now exists for virtualization, the guests will run almost as fast as they would on a native machine, and so you never need to make "an either/or choice." (Fact is, most of the servers that you encounter every day on the Internet are running as
virtual machines.)
