Will installing BASH cause problems?

Hello All,

I would like to know if anybody knows of any type of problems or issues that might come up if we install BASH shell (and run scripts with it of course) on a server that only uses and has been programmed for Korn Shell (ksh)?

Aside of the fact that it might not interact properly with the old ksh scripts, are there any other issues?

Any comments? Ideas?

It should work just fine. You'll probably want to make a global bashrc with some reasonable settings in it and perhaps put a sample local bashrc in /etc/skel as well as all existing users home directories. Other then that, there shouldn't be a problem. Nothing on the system should be dependent on the shell.
