Wifi and ndiswrapper issues

Hello folks. I am having an issue with ndiswrapper in Mandriva One 2008.1.
I am trying to install a Motorola wireless usb adapter with the original WinXP drivers off the CD. When I attempt to install the driver from the control center, an error comes up after selecting the .inf file.
"Cannot find ndiswrapper interface!" or something similar is shown. I have even reinstalled ndiswrapper, and the same results are produced. Does anyone know of a workaround?

You mention trying to do this from a control center, have you tried doing it from the command line? From a root terminal (how to get to one can be different based on your distro, using the 'su -' command from a regular terminal usually does it), run the following command:
Code:
ndiswrapper -i file.inf
with file.inf being a place holder for the .inf file for your driver. This will install your Windoze driver. Next, run:
Code:
modprobe ndiswrapper
This should load the Windoze driver. Next, you can either use the wireless network manager provided with Mandriva, or do the following from your root terminal:
Code:
iwconfig wireless_device essid your_network key your_wep_key
replacing wireless_device, your_ntwork, and your_wep_key as indicated (remove the key part if you don't use WEP).
