Wicd d-bus issues in Mint 8

I use Mint 8 on a Dell Studio 15 laptop, and I've been using Wicd to manage my networking for a while now. For the most part it works fine, but there is one problem...

Everyone once in a while, when I boot up the computer, I am asked to enter my password for Wicd. After I do, I get two error messages telling me that Wicd cannot connect to d-bus, and that it is unable to run.

In order to fix the problem, I have to open the wired-settings.conf file as root and remove a set of empty brackets that for some reason appear at the bottom of the page. Then I restart, and it works fine (at least for another few reboots, then I get the same error messages, and have to do it all over again).

I haven't gone through much troubleshooting, but I suspect it may have to do with me frequently switching from the wired Ethernet connection to wireless. Since I live on a college campus, this happens quite often. However, the whole point of me switching to Wicd was that I thought it could handle a lot of switching like that.

Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Anyone have a similar problem?

Oh yea, here's my lspci:

To find your answer....

[QUOTE=dflo404;3936410]I use Mint 8 on a Dell Studio 15 laptop, and I've been using Wicd to manage my networking for a while now. For the most part it works fine, but there is one problem...

I was on the Mint forums today and read of several folks who had the problem you have and how they managed to fix it...I think I saw it in the Newbie section ...but if you just search WICD I'm sure it will point you in the right direction.
I haven't had the problem but I am still using Mint 7 Gloria, 64bit on a desktop.
Good Luck with it and keep in mind that Mint 9 is due out soon and may address the same issue since this will be an LTS version.
