I installed vmware workstation in WinXP , and the operating system in vmware is Fedora Linux. I set the virtual machine connect the host in the way of host-only. And I set the vmnet1(host-only) as 192.168.0.1/255.255.255.0.
The ip of eth0 in Linux is static. And I use netconfig set the eth0:
ip£º 192.168.0.2
netmask: 255.255.255.0
default gateway: 192.168.0.1
dns:192.168.0.1
Then type 'service network start' , and eth0 is started successfully.
But when I ping 192.168.0.1, there is no message at all.
It did not tell me that it is out of time, or the network is unreachable, of course it did not receive the package.
what is the problem?
thank you for your advice.
and I find the problem now.
It is really a stupid mistake: the IP of subnet and the IP of the hosts are not consistent.
But I met another problem again.
When I set the IP of Linux in the virtual machine static, and give it correct IP, it could connect the host OS.
But if I set the IP in virtual machine dynamic, and restarted the network, Linux told me to check the cable.
I have run DHCP service in the virtual machine.
And when I restarted the network and run vnetsniffer.exe vmnet1, vnetsniffer didn't receive any package
What is the problem?
Maybe, this problem you faced is known.
I and my friend faced the same problem

>I have run DHCP service in the virtual machine.
There is information for this problem in VMware KnowledgeBase.
